Why teach this?
It is so very important to teach students about Suffrage and the Women’s Rights Movement. Our country stands on the foundation that all people are created equally and deserve the same rights and freedoms. Women were not treated equally and did not have the opportunity to vote in presidential elections. Many women came together and decided that they wanted to fight for their right to vote and have a say in elections. Suffrage and the Women’s Right Movement may also be connected the Anti- Slavery Movement, and other minorities groups movements.
